Life drawing from anatomy class first year at PAFA. First draw the skeleton then the model on top. The skeleton I drew in Col- erase blue then I used a brush pen to draw the model. This is from life. The hard part was fitting the model over the skeleton as the proportions were not the same.

Jack Kirby, with Chic Stone, tells a tale about Jack Ruby’s murder of Lee Harvey Oswald, from May 1967’s Esquire magazine. I had no idea at all “46 Hours & 36 Minutes In The Life Of Jack Ruby” existed. It’s amazing what you can turn up while trawling through old archives.

Old Samples that did not get me work for Marvel and DC that I did sometime around 1986 in hopes of picking up work. At the time had been doing activity and kids books but I got nothing —year or so later I did that Daredevil job with Williamson over Ditko so never give up.

2 pages by the late Sal Buscema that show how great he was. Artists like Sal were around forever and always good but it was easy to take them for granted as they weren’t always flashy. But comics ran because guts like Sal were there every month sometimes on 2 books! Clarity of storytelling always.

Throwback to high school . An old drawing from around 1980 or so, of Frankenstein on tracing paper. I can see I was trying to keep it in 4 major values having gotten a copy of Andrew Loomis's Creative Illustration. I never finished it or some reason, maybe because I ended up disliking it.

Boy do I wish art school was like this. But no way schools could demand this from students today A typical 12 hour work day as a student of Harvey Dunn,( if you were accepted)... a landscape before breakfast, then a still life study, in the afternoon a figure study out doors, then a sunset.
