It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby—a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist—to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.

Pencils to an issue of Powerline I drew that Al Williamson inked. I put a lot of the blacks on by painting them in with a light blue wash. I picked up this idea from Bret Blevins,A lot of guys used to indicated where to put the ben-days, or zip this way back in the olden days.

I came across this in my files a page of Danny's script with my thumbnails for breaking down the page. This shows what an artist does with a plot, how much you have to add to connect the dots.

This weeks Phantom

Quasar #17 from 1990 by Mark Gruenwald and Mike Manley @drawmanley.bsky.social may be the most beloved issue to their run. It is an homage to the fun Superman/The Flash races of the 60s and 70s and features a cameo of a scarlet speedster who needs help getting back home.

Here is a real blast from the past. A poster I did for an air show in the early 80’s. I did the black and white drawing then overlays for the colors including using an airbrush. It was a big job at the time. Complicated with layers for each color-Lettering, the whole thing. Choosing PMS colors.
