Somehow I’d never learned until very recently that the Ginger Rogers and Una Merkel roles in “42nd Street” (1933) were originally intended for Joan Blondell and Glenda Farrell—but their schedules prevented it.

these are my two favorite characters in this film, and Farrell and Blondell would have been great in these roles. Rogers and Merkel were perfect alternate casting choices though. absolute scene stealers.

I think one thing OBAA gets very right in its portrayal (and we're seeing this play out right now), is how law enforcement has become a militarized force to be deployed against the people, and that we fight that by collectively looking out for the people in our community.
