I know this month has been rough because I'm just now realizing it's Halloween, a day that I normally anticipate for weeks. Just no time to even think about it. No time to think about anything. Pushing through a sense of unreality.

New from me: Elite law firms, multiple media outlets, the D.C. attorney general, and a group of parents accused a teacher of molesting 15 kids. They were wrong. This piece is two-and-a-half years in the making. And as you'll see, it took some incredible turns, even as I was reporting it.

As a teen in the late 90s, and at college in the 2000s, I often heard conservatives say that "A benevolent dictatorship is better than a democracy." And I mean word-for-word, many times, different people. Was that just a local phenomenon? Because it's why I'm not surprised by the "plenary" thing.
