MSU’s new OL coach had his unit in contention for Best OL in the country last season, and coached a top pick that’s killing it with the #Saints. It’s going to get better. This season has sucked but the growth is there and given where #MSU was this time last year, I’ll take it.

I think this helps put a little perspective on the season. MSU is "on track" for a 6-6 season while being about as middle of the pack as possible when it comes to efficiency on both sides of the ball. Could things be better? Yes. Is the sky falling? Absolutely not.

One of the Biggest difference between MSU's first season under Jonathan Smith, and Mark Dantonio is that Dantonio inherited a veteran QB in Brian Hoyer. Points against for the 2007 team is actually higher than it is for this year's team. Dantonio went 7-5, Smith may match that.
