But my recommendaifon for fantasy would be the Tyrant Philosopher's series by Adrian Tchaikovsky. Brilliant books, amazing world building and stories that go in a route you couldn't predict but keep you on your toes.

I'll always take a chance to shout out Seth Dickinson's Masquerade/Baru Cormorant saga. The story of a lesbian accountant who sets out to infiltrate the empire that colonized her home and destroy it from within. Full of densely layered worldbuilding; brutal, heartbreaking, often surprisingly funny.

The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern is both accessible and deeply imaginative. Has all the comforts of the fantasy books we grew up with, with a wider breadth of symbolism and creativity.
