We can keep going but the lesson I take from this is that the administration and the NIH leadership have decided to shrink the biomedical research workforce and shrink the scope of the science being performed in this country.

A few years ago, I watched as two Finnish police officers stopped to help a woman on the street. One of the officers explained to me that Finland had decided to end homelessness. On top of that, they provide social services to the people they give homes too. Guess what? It's a good investment.

I just saw a patient with liver cancer from hepatitis B that was acquired at birth. Vaccination would’ve prevented it. There’s been a 99% reduction in annual childhood hep B infections since 1991 thanks to universal birth dose vaccination. We can’t afford to roll back that progress.
