April is coming up, so let this is a reminder that #AutismSpeaks never acknowledged or apologized for the grievous harm they did. They preach “autism acceptance” in a way that screams, “I tolerate you because I can’t fix you, but that tolerance ends once I can.” Don’t be fooled.

I cannot imagine the embarrassment if any kids even marginally connected to me said such a thing. Able-bodied folks need to learn some fucking decency and empathy for disabled folks because every one of us that doesnt die young, and many who do, become disabled. Social shame needs to uno-reverse.

Toxic positivity does not make people less disabled. Toxic positivity creates feelings of shame towards natural human emotions and the need to want better for ourselves.
