I think part of the problem is the very term “fatigue”. People think it means a bit sleepy. Being sleepy is actually a pleasant experience. I think it would be better to call it “poisoned” or “viciously hung over without drinking” or “constantly feeling like you’re in the first days of a bad flu”.

The “tired” you feel when chronically ill is very different than a healthy person’s version of “tired”. A healthy person can take a nap and feel 100%. They can have a coffee and perk up. We are tired 24/7. Sleep doesn’t fix it. Rest doesn’t fix it. It’s soul destroying.

I get nausea really easy from exertion, blood pressure changes, internal temperature fluctuations… all kinds of things. So I have barfed many a place. Within the last year it was inside grand central station in Washington DC as most exotic, but over a lifetime? Basically anywhere I’ve ever been 😔

This is not specific PT/OT, it's telling the person to walk more steps tomorrow than today, as if it's something that would not have occurred to the patient without help. It's astonishing hubris. And it is harmful, especially when it comes with the adjuration to ignore resultant symptoms.
