Bat update: I didn't see any bats although I spotted some lovely bits of soft purple sky where a bat might enjoy flying.

On a systemic level, we Americans show kids every day how little we care about their welfare. We could prevent school shootings. We could ban those giant trucks that are constantly killing kids. There's so much we could do to keep kids safe, and we don't. This is a lesson kids are taught every day.

American adults will complain endlessly about kids saying six-seven for giggles, and then these same adults won't implement gun laws that would prevent kids from experiencing multiple school shootings in their lifetimes.

The ACA isn't just "health care for people who don't have a conventional employer." It also disallows something that was incredibly common 20 years ago, which I fear is getting lost to generational memory: insurance companies could deny you health care for essentially any previous health problem.
