At our suggestion, my MIL got my 8yo a CD boombox for Hanukkah along with a huge bin of CDs from my husband’s collection that have been sitting in her basement for ages and now my son spends so much time reading while listening to music and his complaints about being bored have reduced dramatically.

Frankly, it’s all just a little too much right now.

It happens every December, you think you’re holding on, managing well through all the events and merriment, keeping yourself a safe distance from stress overload. Go me, you think. I got this. Hell, I’m even kind of enjoying the holiday season! But then…school spirit week arrives.
