Found a version of this story from 2009 — somewhat polished but otherwise little altered from the 1999 original. It’s rough. Oof. It’s also 10k words. I’ve always been a chatty babe in prose. 💅

At 16 I wrote my first fantasy story. Inspired by the short-lived Adventures in Sword & Sorcery Magazine, it featured a magician turned farmer and his warrior daughter battling pale vampiric apes called morls. At 16, I thought it was terribly clever and creative. Sometimes I think of revisiting it.
