I’d hate to think anyone ever thought that of me as editor. A good editor is there to lift you up, instill confidence, and champion your work. My job is to help a writer present the best version of their work as I can, full stop.

I've also been reading a lot of poetry by Jack Spicer recently who I will probably be arguing at least sometimes wrote SFF poetry in my dissertation! And "I Love My Love" and "The Queen O'Crow Castle" both by Helen Adam--"I Love My Love" is a top-notch horror poem.

Honestly? It's questionable if they ever did. This wasn't pre-internet, so there were ways of getting the word out—do people remember Ralan dot com or Xerography Debt, for instance?—but marketing the zine beyond my own small circle of friends, and the writers submitting to it, was tough.

Ah, what nostalgia! I love this story, it was one of the first I just kept putting it there because I believed in it so much. And @kaleidotrope.bsky.social did, too.

Aw, I remember dashing the first draft of this story off in one go. That’s one of the great things about flash-sized fiction.

Always fun to see a past story making the rounds again! A short sci-fi flash fic about grief and hope, and the decision of what stories to pass on to the next generation.

Looks like a good reading list to me! (I’m not partial at all, LOL)

“Chicxulub Mixtape” is one of my personal favorite flash pieces. Also has one of my favorite titles I’ve come up with. I want to turn it into a short novel someday.
