I just had an entire dream about coming to the conclusion that Speedracer (2008) is actually about what if your neurodivergent hyper focus looked super cool, could solve all your problems, and get you cool awards and acclaim. I do not think my dream analysis was wrong.

#QueerWritersChat Hmm… it’s tough because I find it hard to pay attention to prose while reading it. It melds into the story, often. I do like some of the prose I’ve heard from Katherine Addison and T Kingfisher. I was listening to “Snake Eater” and it had some beautiful lines that stuck in my head.

#QueerWritersChat One helpful little tip I’ve heard is to use “said” when you want the dialogue tag to disappear and use others when you want more emphasis in it, generally. Also, read your work aloud! It’s not all going to flow like dialogue, but you also should be able to read it aloud.

Things go wrong on his mission, so for much of the novel he’s just trying to stay alive, but beyond that everything is a blank. That causes worry and dread for him, but he tries to ignore it.
