Saw Sneakers YOUNG. Right before Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid. Sneakers is so good.

SNEAKERS is one of the most purely charming, diverting light thrillers you can give yourself as a gift on a bad day. Redford, River Phoenix, Sidney literally Poitier, David Strathairn? It’s got good bones, as they say.

I first saw Sneakers in college. The year was 1992 and I was 17. They did a special screening on campus because Lawrence Lasker was an alum. Anyway, it was the first movie I saw Robert Redford in and it was CINEMA. Best movie ever. RIP to that handsome unproblematic man.

I get why he didn't, but it would have been interesting if Robert Redford ever ran for office. Maybe not HBO's Watchmen interesting, but he would have bolstered a bigger Ted Kennedy slice of the party, maybe.

If you think the president is a tyrant and you're running for office to oppose him the only platform you can have is "Give us enough votes to impeach and remove this menace." Otherwise what's the point of electing you?

Calling out the free speech double standard in 2025 seems trite, but we can't give up our ability to criticize public figures NOW and wait for the supreme court to say the first amendment doesn't mean what we think it means in like 18 months.
