DOGE cut off payments for the electricity, cell phone, and internet service of U.S. government employees who work in a high-risk area in Central America. Meanwhile, DOGE apparently plans to spend $25,000 to install a washer and dryer for their own personal use in a federal office building in DC.

Whatever strategy Democrats choose, they need to understand that the fight they’re in is different from any fight they’ve experienced in the past. Here's how they can approach the looming funding fight. New from @tommalinowski.bsky.social:

Congressional Republicans want Dems to approve a long-term "continuing resolution" to fund government programs that Trump and Musk are discontinuing -- in other words, to pass a budget that Trump and Musk will ignore. That makes no sense. I suggested how Dems can better use their leverage here.

This is good, but it only applies to payments to aid groups for contracts already fulfilled. The big question remains: Will the Court require Trump to spend Congressionally approved funds as Congress directs? And will Congress do more to assert its power of the purse (or just rely on the courts)?
