The funny thing about a D+11 generic ballot in May is that it could easily become a D+15 by November. The Texas and North Carolina gerrymanders break at D+15.

Young people cancelled out every Republican voter over 65 in 2022, they pushed Biden over the finish line in 2020, and powered up the blue wave in 2018. Turnout in 2024 was the 2nd highest. This narrative that young people don’t vote needs to die.

A new NYT poll shows that 65% of voters 18-29 say they are “almost certain” or “very likely” to vote. 62% of 18-29 say they plan to vote for Democrats, 26% for Republicans. Almost like it was a bad idea to immediately backstab young voters on affordability and “no wars…”

I can confirm most of what David says here. The 2024 campaign was built for Joe Biden, it struggled to adjust when Harris became the nominee, and many in leadership prioritized protecting Biden’s legacy over electing her. The autopsy may say many things — but this is the main reason we lost.
