Back in middle school, my best friend had a 45 of The Carpenters’ cover of “Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft“. When played at 33 rpm it was kind of terrifying.

As people are scattering, hiding, and camping in new spots every night, they are losing contact with social services including the housing lists almost everyone is (and has been) on a wait-list for. We're also using $$ for phone cards so people can continue to access their basic needs.

I saw Highest 2 Lowest last night. Starts out almost walk-out awful, but improves considerably once Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright hit the streets of NYC. That's when Spike Lee's love of the city and its people come to the fore. Definitely not a great movie, but I don't regret seeing it.
