Avengers is fundamentally a weird book from the 60s to 70s. It was a showoff title for Marvel's heroes, a big book for Kirby to display them in big fights and heroic moments. So when it became home to characters like Hank, Janet, Wanda, Clint, and Quicksilver, things got awkward for a second.
