watched one of those metroid prime 4 20 minute long showcase videos that released today, and was actually impressed by the art direction. theres freaky organic shapes all over the mechanical architecture. makes it even more sad i learned they put sony prestige cutscenes in it at the same time

re prime 4 discourse, todasy is as good a time as any to say: video games talk AT you way too much in the 2020s! i'm not talking abt too much narrative (not a real issue). i'm talking abt a constant, patronizing use of narration to /predigest/ everything from challenge to mood to emotional impact!

Great video that really highlights an issue with games writing: Gender is usually just a cosmetic toggle that doesn't actually change anything. Although screaming morons online still somehow get angry about it. But Persona 3 Portable went all-in on having femininity change the whole tone of it.

kinda hate the "i miss when consoles had exclusives" lines of criticism with modern consoles, since it's mostly clinging to magic/nostalgia that isn't necessarily pro consumer. the real issue is they haven't rly figured out any New magic

also i know people love this game. but I have to speak the truth: Astro Bot absolutely makes the PS5 lamer. No matter how good and fun the game is, having a Ready Player One on your console constantly trying to convince you that the PS5 is a cool thing to own is a catastrophic aura debuff.

i played king's quest 8 pretty close to launch and let me tell you. they didn't make em like that back then either. surreal game. uses a ww1 dogfighting game's engine so internally the hero is a fighter plane
