I need people to play other square enix RPGs so t hey can at least correctly identify which games are trying to be what, because calling Octopus Traveler a Final Fantasy is deranged

the way people talk about clair obscur is so funny because in many ways it's just FF13 (flirting) vs FF13 (harassment)

I feel like I project a vibe that I like FF13 a lot more than I actually do, but what it really is is I just value grounded arguments a lot. Like I hate when people make an argument for something I agree with but their actual argument sucks

FF7 opens with a bombing mission where they talk about shinra, SOLDIER, mako, the life stream, speak about The Planet as if it's an entity, Midgar, "sectors" and probably other stuff I'm forgetting but beyond FF7 being a better game imo, it's also just a game more people like

yeah and this feeds into another prominent but false criticism of FF13 which is that you have to read the datalog to find out what a l'cie or fal'cie is people pass off tuning out as "the game forces you to read a book in order for the story to make sense"

I mean honestly I could try to beat around the bush here but I'll be real, this just comes down to people not liking FF13 which makes every argument stick,even the bad ones. People saw the intro throwing you into things without explanation and decided to be confused because they didn't feel invested
