I think my favorite thing about racing as a genre is the simplicity of it all. In too many games we finish playing and have to do varying degrees of homework before we can see who really won. But in a racing game? The race usually ends and you immediately *know.* Players just get it.

The vast majority of the time, I use pre-made icons and stock art for my prototypes. It saves time + makes changes painless But on rare occasion adding some hand-crafted art can go a long way towards helping your players get the vibes your game is going for. What vibes do these racers give off?

It's been a crazy time as the new creative director at Leder Games, but I'm settling in. In fact, I am delighted to announce a major typographic improvement to all of our games, past and future: We will be changing our official font to Papyrus! Can't wait to share even more innovations.

Typically when I hear near universal agreement that a show isn't worth it, that makes me more curious to check it out. But two episodes in and yeah, Darling in the Franxx is **not** for me. 😅

A big goal of mine for Walkable City was to have passengers that had restrictions to make the game feel tight & challenging, while also fleshing out the city and its denizens. Giving those restrictions realistic reasons allows players to empathize, which in turn makes the rules easier to understand

Got a chance to try out a prototype of Walkable City from @drawnonward.bsky.social. The prototype and draft rules I had weren't finished yet so there were questions here and there, but I really loved working with other players to build out transit options for the residents. 🧵

Another random game design thought: Sometimes playtesters share TOO many ideas and my brain becomes chaos. GET OUT OF MY HEAD all you darn ideas! Anyone else experience this? How do you deal with too many ideas coming at you all at once? ✂️🎲

My take-away from Hot Streak + Magical Athlete's popularity is that it's a comeback for low agency games. It's obviously not dominant or replacing strategy games, but essentially winning people over with strong vibes & moments. And if I am being honest it's a nice change of pace.
