International Asexuality Day, so let me talk about one of my least favorite allosexual pastimes: asking why asexual people “need” to talk about our varying levels of desire. Why do YOU need hamburger ads with bikini ladies in? Why do you need Magic Mike? Why is it acceptable for you and not us?

Stop treating people expressing their differences in sexuality as gross. If you think it’s normal and empowering to talk about a guy’s sexy forearms or women with their tongues sticking out— Why on earth would someone going “eh, not for me, but have fun” be gross?
