When this EO was signed, someone urged US citizens by birth to think about how they'd establish their citizenship if birthright citizenship were eliminated and the ultimate conclusion of that thought experiment for most people would be "I can't." And that seems important to point out to people.

They're being imprecise when they say this case is about "getting rid of birthright citizenship" but then not making clear what the implications of actually doing that would be. Feels like it could be a good moment to help *all* US citizens by birth understand the basis of their own citizenship.

I've been trying to catch up on arguments/analysis of today's SCOTUS stuff and it's weird how many news programs seem to be talking about birthright citizenship *in general* as if it's only something relevant to the children of immigrants, not the way all US citizens born here have citizenship.

Trump is dismantling the forest service, exempting projects from the endangered species act, destroying the department of education. These are based in statutes duly passed by Congress. If Trump has the right to unilaterally do this then “executive” means nothing.

This is what social media is meant to be about.
