Thank you to everyone who was so kind today about this new story. I’m really proud of this one. I wrote it when we had to move to Minneapolis. If you’ve had to move from home because you were no longer welcome, this one is for you.

Holy shit it’s been a couple of days. The @reactorsff.bsky.social story came out today. Yesterday my book won an award and I accepted it in a club overlooking Lake Michigan. And tomorrow @starsandsabers.bsky.social ‘s Oz anthology comes out with my Jinjur story. 🔥😱

I gravitate towards alternate timeline stories a lot and the what-ifs, but this is a perspective I haven't seen before that is lovely, sad, a bit hard... but comforting for all that, reminding me there are different kinds of hope. Dawson's novel Lighthouse at the Edge of the World is also wonderful!

Just finished The Book Eaters by @sunyidean.com. Was not expecting a full treatise on the more monstrous powers of love, but this was an impressively weighty read. I loved it and I'll be digesting this read for a good while.

this week is a wacky one. Going to Chicago to accept an award for LIGHTHOUSE, in a venue that overlooks Lake Michigan ... where the book takes place. And while I'm there, my very first reactor story will release. This is turning out to be a pretty cool year. And I'm very grateful.

There is one superior answer to this question.

I need to tell you something very important. There is a piano in a condo in Miami Beach. Two songs have been written on this piano. One was "Living on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. The other one was me fucking around and writing "The Ballad of Baby Yoda" while all my sane friends went to the beach.

My debut collection, Uncertain Sons and Other Stories, received award nominations/recognition thanks to enthusiastic readers talking about it here. I met many of the kind authors who blurbed it here too. Every time someone skeets wtf is this, there's a sale. Pretty much exists because of this place.

The author sent me a copy, and it's really something to behold in person.

It was May the Fourth today. I didn't get to really celebrate, but I really love Star Wars. It's meant a lot especially this past year. It's beautiful storytelling and such an expansive world. Thank you to all the writers and artists who give us the galaxy far far away.
