I wrote this back in 2019 but I think it’s relevant now: No, Charlie Kirk was not an advocate for debate and speech. In fact, he may have been the single most important figure in ensuring speech would be punished on campus. He was a well funded right-wing agitator connected to state power.

Charlie Kirk was a man so deeply committed to freedom of speech and enlightened, reasonable debate that you are not allowed to quote anything he said ever again.
