I had friends at USAID, people who were doing things like try to help women in rural Tanzania transport water to their villages, because they were walking miles woth small children in tow and then carrying it *and kids* back. This was back-breaking labor.

Whenever I hear someone claiming that USAID was evil from a leftist perspective, I hear someone saying “yes, millions ARE dying because Musk and Trump killed USAID, but at least they’ll die free of American imperialism.” Notably it is never the people saying this who are dying.

Considering that USAID has been destroyed and that millions are dying as a result, you don’t fucking get to pretend your “USAID was a foul tool of American imperialism” take is merely hypothetical. Stop being a sniveling little weasel and own it: you think the deaths of all those kids is worth it.

While I think someone who is willing to say out loud that they believe condemning millions to death in the name of reducing American soft power is worth it is a ghoul who will not see the light of Paradise, I can at least respect their honesty. But those trying to play both sides of this? No.

“Moderate” is not the term for politicians who think the right response to fascist assault on democracy is accommodation, acquiescence, appeasement. “Centrist,” yes. Chase a moving the middle, over-read narrow electoral results, etc. Fascists oppose moderates’ core values (including moderation).
