Hot take: If you need to get out of the vehicle to help your kid(s) get out, you should park in the parking lot and NOT be in the drop off area. About half of the people dropping kids off at our local elementary school don't seem to agree with this.

I enjoy the financial stability and sense of purpose my job is giving me, but I miss the free time I had, especially with my kids. Wish I could work 3/4 or 1/2 time, but I'm in the USA, where you only get health insurance if you work 40 hrs/week. Sigh.

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw. The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.
