Six months ago congress passed a $170 billion increase in immigration funding, representing a 350% increase in the ICE budget. That money has been used to invade cities, kidnap children, kill mothers, and cut medical care for detainees. This did not move Dems enough to reject even more ICE funding.

Democrats aren’t “focusing on affordability” because they think it’s the optimal political strategy. They’re doing it because it doesn’t require them to actually make any affirmative promises. Like always, their primary goal is to avoid politics.
