If we're going to start using the word "politics" to mean "deeply held value systems and ideas about the purpose/value of human life," can we abolish phrases like "just politics" and "let's not bring politics into this"? One's bedrock concept of the very meaning of life is not... like... optional.

Scientists have used artificial intelligence to create an enzyme that can eat one of the toughest plastics on Earth. The enzyme breaks polyurethane down into reusable chemicals in just 12 hours at 50°C, turning it back into raw materials. Truly circular recycling.

When you get the reputation of being the guy with the encouraging words on New Year's Eve, it can start to come through as a little pressure -- what if the situation on the ground is worse than usual? what if people are more scared than they usually are, and with cause? what use are good vibes then?

They are literally firing all the judges they think might grant relief. They just fired a friend of mine a couple hours ago. They have no shame. The bastards want an assembly line for deportations and nothing more; rubber-stamping bootlickers whoâll yesâsir at every new diktat to deny.

What I call Serfdom of the Self is when our identities, attention, and even emotions become dependent on digital systems we donât control. We hand over more of our inner lives to these systems, and in return they decide the conditions of our existence.
