Jason Momoa gives a performance for the ages in Julian Schnabel’s In the Hand of Dante. This line in particular will stick with me forever, sort of like’a da pussycat.

These days a mere click gets you hundreds of folks opining on the latest film, and that’s not a bad thing. But when I was a kid there was one person on each TV channel who talked about movies and pop culture for a brief segment. Gene Shalit was the goofiest of that ilk. God bless him. Rest In Peace.

An interesting time to be George Lucas… his ex-wife passed away, he sold his franchise to Disney who have frittered away the appeal Star Wars once had as the film industry sees a change of the guard happening and his original cut of Star Wars is getting a full restoration. He’s looking good though

Have some new stuff going up this week so I wanted to share a few pieces I've written recently as I'm terrible at promoting my work. 1st up, a look at William Petersen & cinematic masculinity in the '80s:

Discreetly gay USA actor Paul Winfield was BOTD in 1939 & died in 2004 at 64. A lifetime member of The Actor's Studio, he was known for playing a Louisiana sharecropper who struggles to support his family during the Depression in Ritt's "Sounder" (1972), earning him an Oscar nod
