I‘ve been playing a bit of Hunt: Showdown and Darktide with my brother and it’s been very fun. Hunt is super tense and Darktide is sillier than I thought it would be. The live service aspects of both games are not fun and I hate them but the core game loops are good.

Grousing and grumbling about the netflix deal to my uninterested cat because my wife is out of town on a work trip.

It’s hard to not see the Netflix/WB news as a sort of doomsday scenario. The constant mergers and large scale absorptions of brands might be good for business, in theory, but they are bad for art; they are bad for creators; they are bad for preservation. Which makes it bad for us.

I love TTRPGs but Dungeons & Dragons doesn’t excite me as a system or a setting. But would I play it if I had a group that really wanted to? Absolutely.

It’s actually okay to not remaster everything to 4K. It’s actually okay for stuff to look the way it looks. It’s okay for old tv shows to be 4:3 aspect ratio or low resolution. By trying to make everything 4K to “look better” it’s actually making it worse. It’s fine for old things to look old.
