The CEO of Palantir posted a fascist manifesto on X. I pointed out that it was fascist—which resulted in a permanent suspension from X (my second time!). So, when you hear the tweeters complaining that BlueSky is intolerant, remember why many of us came here in the first place.

The big bad signal for the PM is that no MPs are speaking up for him. No loyal backbenchers giving him a break, use up time and some cover. It's just a constant attack from every side of the house.

An hour and a half into this and it probably speaks volumes that the opposition benches remain packed while Labour's MPs have left Starmer to deal with it on his own.

The big picture problem is that Keir Starmer's initial line as to why he had sacked Peter Mandelson was visibly ridiculous and subsequent developments have made it more so. Now it's basically 'well, I would have DOUBLE not appointed him if I had known!'
loading . . .
The Mandelson affair is about the government’s judgment, not process
Discussion of vetting and procedure is part of the excuse but not the core of the difficulty

“I do not accept that these things happened” ok but they did? They happened and they happened on your watch and you’re the *leader of this fucking country* and more than that, you promised that things would be different if people made you the leader of this fucking country!

I'm fascinated by smart glasses because for like 2 decades now companies have been trying to make them happen in spite of the fact that they have extremely limited utility, major legal issues, no one seems to be asking for them at all, and on top of that they always look like THIS

At the end of the day Starmer announced the appointment before the vetting was even finished. That was a catastrophic error of judgment considering who he was appointing. Everything else is just noise.

"A robot ran faster than a human" like, fukken, yeah. Speedboats swim quicker than people. Helicopters jump better. My milk frother makes better hot chocolate than I do with my bare hands. That's not an *accomplishment*. That's the function of a tool.

Roman blown-glass unguentarium or balsamarium in the shape of a dove, found at Rovasenda near Vercelli in N Italy, sealed since its manufacture about 1900 years ago, containing the remains of a cosmetic and the liquid in which it was once suspended. One would have snapped off the tail to open. 🏺
