I discuss this in my book (www.amazon.com/Rot-Revival-...). The Supreme Court and its jurisprudence don't function as a counterweight to majoritarian politics. Instead, operates as a regime enforcer. The fact that 40 years out, the Court works like a well-oiled Reaganist machine is unsurprising.

The message is: crowd large. Many politicians, administrators, and business leaders, in bowing to Trump, have drawn confidence and comfort from the perceived vibe shift. Events like this puncture that delusion.

This is the US budget. Trump/GOP say their agenda won’t cut Social Security or Medicare. They’re *expanding* military spending. And cutting taxes. Now they’re battling over whether to slash Medicaid. There’s not a lot left for savings. Shaping up to hugely increase the debt.

The biggest thing we need to do is let people know that the protests are FUN. Yelling fuck the man is fun. You will meet fun people. We also need to make them more fun. Bring grills like the French. Bring instruments like it’s Mardi Gras. Give people a reason to spend their weekend in the streets.
