The “law and order” of authoritarianism is that the authoritarian, or anyone who in that moment sees themselves acting as the enforcer of authority, can take the law into their own hands and execute it as they see fit for any reason whatsoever.

The point however, is that authoritarianism isn’t marked by rule by an over abundance of law and order, but rather that it is marked by the lack of any fixity of the law and by the capriciousness of personal execution of violence.

It's the dawn of 2026, and Google Docs still does not let us define a custom text style in a document. It's a garbage word processor. It's been so for years. And Google is simply not interested in making it any better. 😠
