The fronds shiver in the roaring rain and the precious frangipanis fall onto pools and swollen puddles. I fear for the delicate nest, swaying in the storm, tenderly built between spindly branches by the smallest of birds. ©️January 2026, Seseh

The dark duvet of approaching squall pulls itself over the Firth. The storm blisters the sea and brings a loud desolation to the empty hill. I soak, cowering behind a drystane wall, feeling this one more comfort of home. ©️January 2026

Race Black-raked speed dhows. Saracen sea-cavalry, cloaks shaping the Camargue breeze in their criss-crossing of the boiling bay. ©️January 2026
