My mood isn’t improved by the fact that work dictates that today I must take the decorations down. The world is demystified. Trite Dawkinsian positivism asserts itself. I am become The Grinch. Today low sun warms leaf-strewn paths in autumn bronze, dark gold, chocolate. Elsewhere, dirt & ice interfuse, spreading a leathery grey hide across the earth, harsh underfoot. At my frozen chapel, up close the fractal snow-filaments are hairs. They thicken to white fur, asparkle in sun-cast glitter

Rereading these pieces, which didn’t begin as a set, written at different times in the pandemic, revised after it, I’m grateful to @thewombwellrainbow.bsky.social for the submission call. Putting them together revealed their relationship & encouraged me to record them as three parts of one triptych

This is what happens when you take a massive military arsenal, world-power entitlement and the Monroe Doctrine, and give them to a lunatic. After Trump has gone, it’s not just about reverting to the status quo ante. It’s about making enough changes to ensure that he and his ilk become impossible
