Here's a visual of all the books I read this year. Not a crazy amount, but way more than I have in the past, so I'm proud of that. It was a great year for queer and trans fiction for me this year, and I'm looking forward to reading even more in 2026!

I have never met anyone who made a concious choice to cut out some of their family, and subsequently regretted it. Plus, usually this is done with clear boundaries; stop being racist or transphobic or just plain hurtful. If they can't manage that; well, they have basically cut themselves off.

The macabre thing here is that the sheer epistemic vandalism of this term runs pretty deep. A lot of cis people won't even clock that there's anything offensive about it. A young cis athlete calling out a transphobic athlete used this term in her letter of support just a couple of months ago.
