...people like Trump, Kulldorf, Bhattacharya, Prasad, RFK etc love GRADE and "Evidence Based Medicine". None of that pesky rigour that makes science such a pain to deal with. In EBM/GRADE you just grade up here, downgrade there, and bury your screwups under BS about "the totality of the evidence".

At a minimum, please wear a well-fitting mask in airports and on planes, and in healthcare settings. If people did this, COVID transmission would fall demonstrably. It’s not that hard, and it’s not all or nothing. It’s also not just a cold—it’s an organ-damaging virus.

Once again from the please-learn-from-the-mistakes-of-others department: In

, the share of children (under 16 years old) suffering from material deprivation has jumped from 3.7 % in 2021 to 10 % in 2024. To a large extent "thanks" to the most right-wing government in Finland's history.

President Donald Trump considering himself the personal guarantor of peace with Russia is not really an ace in his sleeve. Either the US Constitution or natural biology will ensure that he won't be the president of the USA in a few short years.

tldr Poverty line is calculated as 3x a year’s food budget b/c the calculation dates to the 60s when food was 1/3 of spending. Food is now 1/16 of spending due to other costs rising hugely, so the official US poverty line for a family of 4 is $35,000 but updating the logic it should be $140,000!

I should be even clearer: Schickler points out that US’s comparatively decentralized institutions and *decentralized civil society* (firms, unions, universities, guilds like lawyers, etc) were assumed to be hard to take over. Trump II took over both
