When I was working on curiosity, our budget decreased by 5-10% every year, our power output from the RTG decreased by about the same, and we managed to do just as much science over timeāsometimes even moreāthan when the mission started. A 50% cut out of nowhere would kill missions like curiosity.

I kind of think this is an important point to reiterate. It's never "rockets vs science." And sometimes (like with the Artemis II mission), there is science that can piggy-back on missions where enabling human spaceflight is the primary goal. The proposed science cuts are just about cutting science.

Ok, soliciting advice: I've got a ton of health issues both GI and systemic that are flaring and it's boiling down to an elimination diet to see if I can nail down any trigger foods. Already met with a dietician to actually get some guidance, but I figure there's folks on here that have done this.

I adore Max so I say this with respect: this is the wrong line of questions The correct one is: what are the political conditions in Maine such that he is more popular than his opponents with working class white folks *and* POC despite his problems? Why donāt the Dems do better talent development?

Here is an easy solution: Food stains are humiliating, as they suggest you're a little baby who can't feed themselves. Oil stains, such as those you'd get from working on your car, suggest you're tough, independent, and skilled. Thus, simply cover your food stains with used motor oil.

How you speak of others reflects how and what you think of others. In this case, it shows a fundamental ugly racism, misogyny, and ableism [and Nazism]. That's not regulating speech. That's levying consequences for bigoted behavior. DO FUCKING BETTER.

it takes a high degree of emotional literacy to go "wow, I had a very intense reaction to something I'm now learning isn't based in fact, I need to interrogate that so I can flag it if it comes up again", and in our 24/7 disinformation economy many people simply choose never to accept correction
