A sci-fi pet peeve of mine is the way the word “alien” gets used by human characters when they’re somewhere that’s not earth. I mean, they’re the aliens in those situations.

Since AI making up quotes is in the news, I'm thinking about this episode again, where a reporter I never spoke to attributed things to me that I would never say publicly. The editor never replied to me, and the only consequence seems to be that the reporter stopped posting on Bluesky.

it'll never be not wild to me how much people prefer randomness to decide their experience online. the algorithm can be useful in having recs fed to you on occasion but 90% of my online activity is actively seeking out and exploring user libraries/websites on my own.
