Anecdote: I worked in a golf pro shop as an undergrad, and we had a bin of mixed golf balls labeled "$1.75 each." We rarely sold any. Then another resort employee, a retired grocery-store manager, relabeled it "3 for $5.25." We started selling a full bin every week or two--still at $1.75 each! 🙃
