It has never been about immigration. it's racism, and it's intimidation. and profit for some. Allowing it to happen to any group means it's a possibility for everyone, and that's how fascism maintains power while being horrible.

When this "AI" bubble pops, the men pretending they weren't pushing the hype, like "critics" whose position is "AGI is real but LLMs aren't the way," who were in eugenicist and "AI existential risk"đ circles, will get specials discussing what they saw coming, when its the women who told you so.

On the scale of indignities the internet inflicts on us it's pretty low but I still harbor a hatred for the retargeting nonsense where a company sends you an ad and you click on it and then they send you like three emails a day for a week asking "do you still want it? did you forget about it?" etc.

In a museum a couple days ago I noticed they referred to dates as B.C.E and C.E. instead of B.C. and A.D. I'm surprised Trump hasn't complained about this. I mean I realize museums are not his turf, but it seems like the kind of thing that he'd denounce as Too Woke.

If there's one legacy of the War in Iraq that Democrats should have internalized, it's the fact that those who lined up behind the war drums all came to regret that decision while those who wisely refused to go along were soon vindicated. One of the latter rode that decision to the White House!

We are oddly selective about the government services about which we will say, they operate at a loss. Commuter rail, we are often told, operates at a loss. But we spend even more on street and highways, and take in little direct revenue from them. Yet no one ever says they are operating at a loss.

this is batshit. Not to mention criminal. DOGE just put 4 million people (1% of the population!) into the Death Master File. Fake death can have serious consequences, and even lead to real death pretty quickly. And at best it requires a trip to an SSA office to prover you're alive.
