The withdrawal from Afghanistan and KIA from the operation was a massive scandal because it was Joe Biden, not Trump running the show and the GOP/media acted as such.

I think American service members dying has a smaller effect on admin policy under Rep presidents than it does under Dems which is more of a function of GOP willingness to generate a scandal and the Dems being perceived as weak on military issues by the public rather than anything concrete.
