Despite what MLB keeps suggesting, I don’t think (smart) small market teams care about a salary cap. Having six-plus years of player control is far more valuable than the ability to pay less to players you won’t sign anyway. A salary cap would just make being the Dodgers or Mets more profitable.

The problem is that virtually everybody has to bend the knee if the federal government wants them to. They can and will ruin you. When your side is in charge it is suddenly ok for companies and universities to be harassed on your issues. Truly a “both sides do it” problem, differing only in degree.

This is why I am content to let others handle this activity.

Indiana was the worst team in college football for 150 years and then they let you start paying players and they immediately became No. 1 and the only conclusion one can draw is they were the only ones who didn’t realize you could pay players under the table for the first 150 years.
