Pregnant women can't access the #COVID vaccine. If they get #COVID and develop a fever, they can't take Tylenol? 🫠. Both COVID infection and untreated maternal fever increase the risk of bad outcomes for both fetus and mother ranging from preterm delivery to death. None of this is pro-life.

On a day when all research grants at Harvard were terminated, and in a context where Congress seems to broadly accept the notion that destroying science and health research in the US is fine, it’s worth noting that this is not what the public wants.

All 4 of my NIH research grants are terminated. These were grants on MDR-TB treatment & strategies for supporting adolescents living w/ HIV. This is a massive waste of resources. I am heartbroken for my Harvard team, my partners in Peru, the next generation of scientists & our country. Shame.

NIH funding outside of the US is dead. There were signs the new rules on ineligibility of foreign components/subprojects that seemed to suggest direct grants (rather than subcontracts) would continue. But there are major limits as the primary (foreign) PI must terminate all non-US collaborations.
