That most Americans aren't grasping the gravity of this situation is really freaking me out

Even if Trump’s attack on Venezuela and kidnapping of Maduro somehow led to a positive impact on Venezuela’s future, it would not make these actions by the United States legal, moral or wise. Normalising and legitimising this behaviour endangers all countries - democracies and dictatorships alike.

Wild day to have slept in as a Latin Americanist. My thoughts are with the people of Venezuela and the rule of law. This is not how to build trust and stability.
