I just want people to know that there is no active insurrection, no regular protests, no rioting or whatever. The only time people are in the streets is when masked armed ICE thugs descend on one of our neighbors to disappear them as part of a federal government-led ethnic cleansing campaign.

This is what I keep telling people who aren't from the Twin Cities. Much of the roots of the organized opposition they see now came out of the many days following George Floyd's murder where residents built connections with one another and patrolled their own streets because the MPD were AWOL.

I’ve started using the term “ethnic cleansing campaign” to describe the ICE occupation here in Minnesota. This is deliberate because the reality on the ground is that, at a given moment, any non-white person can be kidnapped by masked federal paramilitaries regardless of their constitutional rights.

They’re having to lock the door at our neighborhood Mexican market because of these goons. They let in one at a time and lock the door behind you. Fucking assholes are terrorizing our neighbors and businesses.

I want to let you all know something important that I hope motivates you to keep showing up. I get daily calls from neighbors who speak Spanish who want me to let you all know they are grateful for those looking out and patrolling. Our community is thankful. Minneapolis is full of heroes.

This is Minneapolis: Walk into my neighborhood ACE last night & see the signage on their door notifying fed agents that it’s private property and cannot be used for immigration enforcement. These signs are all over the city. Walk in & the nearest shelf has goggles & whistles.

I just went with the, “It could be better,” at some point last week on the way to pick up my youngest. Suffice it to say, I’m not originally from here.

Got to watch our little guy and his teammates play some good old outdoor hockey over at North Commons under the lights. He even got a shot on goal! But that North Commons goalie was unbelievable. Minneapolis still rules despite our enemies worst attempts.

Anxiety really hit me this morning. Middle schooler was about to walk her bus. Had to tell her what to do if she was confronted by ICE. Walked the 2nd grader as always. School drop off was clearly a shadow of its normal self. Many, many parents are choosing to keep their kids home.
