Republicans think people are going to continue to sit quietly and let their decades-long fascist plan continue largely devoid of real resistance and they are sorely mistaken. I only hope every single one of them gets what they deserve.

Amazing to me that people keep screaming about security failures in a situation where security did not fail. Bad things didn't even happen to bad people, so you can stop pretending to be worried about that. Stop whining for a bigger, badder police state.

This puts the security debate in better perspective. I know this space really well. The guy wasn’t anywhere near the ballroom. He was basically trying to rush the security perimeter and failed. It’s a big complex with lots of different event happening at the same time.

When radioactivity was discovered, there was a rush to market for all sorts of radioactive consumer goods. There were water jugs made out of uranium glass, for example. I think about that a lot these days whenever I see AI products being marketed to consumers.

Like... I'm sorry, but to win future elections, you need a good chunk of the people who sat out in 2016 or 2024 to vote for you, and I just don't think that sneering at them and saying it's their fault that things are the way they are right now is going to win them over, even if you truly believe it

"You let someone get into office..." That's a lot of responsibility to be dumping on people you acknowledge are already pretty close to you in beliefs. Instead of berating them, you might consider what you could do to appeal to them, since, like you said, they agree with you on 90% of things.

The new VERY hagriographic Michael Jackson biopic starring MJ's nephew is out at the end of the month. But back in 2004 an unauthorised and EQUALLY flattering biopic was made in Canada. Here is a clip and I promise you have NO idea where it's going. I haven't done a single edit here.

if you’re in a relationship with a chat bot you’re just a narcissist. love requires empathy you can’t empathize with a large language model because it doesn’t have a mind. it has no wants and no needs. it exists to combine words to make you feel good.

It’s kind of stunning how openly, gleefully, unrepentantly evil this administration is. If these people weren’t rich they’d be stabbing people in alleys. I’m sure a chunk still do that in their off time.

Year-end critics’ lists exist for people to fight over, so I’m happy when people complain about them. But the complaint I will never get is, “I’ve never heard of most of these movies/albums/shows.” Yes, and? Why be mad about learning about stuff you didn’t know before from the news?

Libraries purchase books. When you see a book at the library, it isn’t “free” the library bought it. which in turn means that the community bought it. In other words, library books are not lost sales for authors and publishers; they’re positive sales. Active sales. Those are bought.

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

If you believe that Dem leadership is fighting for you, ask them what they did when the Supreme Court took away the human rights of 50% of the nation, when two thirds of Americans disagreed with the Court’s decision, and we had the presidency. More than 3 years later. Ask how they’ve fought.

Like for six weeks, Democrats actually united on a singular, coherent message of “this is entirely about healthcare, it is the only thing that matters, all of this is about protecting healthcare” and then the flight delays started and the first thing they did was give up on healthcare
