DOJ briefly uploaded this letter from Jeff Epstein to serial child molester Larry Nassar: "Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to 'grab snatch,' whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system."

The Olivia Nuzzi story and the Bari Weiss at CBS story are the same story, which is that the upper echelons of legacy media are absolutely rife with people who worship power and don't feel burdened by any sense of responsibility to their profession or the public.

From 2018 to 2024, the tax rate paid by eight major retailers was slashed from 30% to just 17.5%. The CEOs of those major retailers were paid a collective $1.3 billion. Meanwhile, the average worker at those stores was paid less than $32,000 in 2024. Nothing trickled down.

Except that we won’t. The social Darwinism and eugenics are a huge part of MAHA. After all, a key idea behind the antivax movement is that vaccine-preventable diseases can’t harm you if you’re healthy and that if you’re not healthy it’s your fault.

Spiking a news story the day before publication to protect an authoritarian regime is like stuffing ballot boxes after the polls close to rig an election. It's not how the pros do it; if you waited that long, you're already in trouble; and you're not fooling anyone.

political media on all sides is defined by disdain for its audience. “liberal” media believes that its audience is too insular and must be confronted with opposing views. conservative media just feeds its audience propaganda slop.

As a historian I've looked at hundreds of thousands of pages of government documents. And I just have to say that aside from being obviously illegal and clearly suggestive of some major crime, this “redaction” business is not a position in which serious people or serious governments find themselves

The interesting thing about the "left behind" talking point is that it's lifted wholesale from crypto grifters. In that context it *kind* of made sense? Like it wasn't correct but at least it followed logically that if crypto became huge, early adopters would benefit.
