Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 16: Prophet Motive The prophets/wormhole aliens change Grand Nagus Zek's greed into philanthropy. Callback to the self-sealing stembolts. Unrelatedly: has anyone discovered a wormhole and a way to send the current administration through it? It's worth a shot.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 15: Destiny I like this story, a classic turn on the prophecy that comes true, but not as you expect. Kira's feelings about Sisko as the Emissary, a major religious figure, make sense but don't ring true. She is a true believer, but she's also grounded.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 14: Heart of Stone Kira is stuck in a crystal, whatever. BUT also Nog seriously considers his future, and goes to Sisko for a letter of recommendation to Starfleet: one of the most interesting and effective character swerves on Star Trek.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 13: Life Support Kai Winn vs. Dr. Bashir...not the faceoff I was expecting. Louise Fletcher, as always, is magnificent at playing the constantly self-aggrandizing religious leader.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 11 & 12: Past Tense Part 1 & 2 Sisko, Dax and Bashir accidentally wind up back in 2024, the time of civil unrest around the "Sanctuary" Districts. Not wholly accurate, but certainly reflective of the way we treat many of the homeless and mentally ill.

One of the great things about PARADISE LOST is that it really engages with how unfathomably *weird* those stories really are.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 7: Civil Defense O'Brien trips Cardassian security measures and the station starts attacking everyone. Garak helps. Dukat shows up and isn't very helpful but gets a Karmic comeuppance. Disaster episodes can be very good or very bad, but this one is fun.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 6: The Abandoned They find a baby! I love the delight Sisko takes in holding him (and then hands him to Bashir, who also takes him very naturally.) Nice. The ep's a little short for what they want to do -- there are some leaps of logic...but it's still good.

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 5: Second Skin Kira gets a weird call about records of her from a Cardassian prison on Bajor, then wakes up on Cardassia Prime looking like a Cardassian. Pretty good: Nana Visitor plays this sort of thing so well.

So decision time in my Trek rewatch. I guess I'm watching Voyager. The beginning is frustrating: there are so many great directions they could have gone with it. (But. It gets better.)

Deep Space Nine rewatch S.3, Ep. 4: Equilibrium Yet another Jadzia Dax ep where she gets sidelined (this time by a Trill disorder caused by a host she can't remember) Lots of Avery Brooks, though, which is always good. And most of the scenes between Dax and Bashir from here out are oddly...nice.
